Alex Kingston (born Alexandra Elizabeth Kingston on 11 March 1963 in Epsom, Surrey, England) is an accomplished English actress. A Royal Academy of Dramatic Art alumna and former Royal Shakespeare Company member, she gained international prominence as Dr Elizabeth Corday on the U.S. medical drama ER (1997–2004). She is also beloved for her role as River Song in Doctor Who (2008–2015). After years of diverse stage and screen work, in recent years she starred as Sarah Bishop in A Discovery of Witches (2018–2022).
